Unhappy Is Guildwars coming to an end?

Hello.

The discussion here is about the future of old guildwars players.

Due to the changes happening in the future, lets start with Heroes ascent.

Lots of people that I know and people that I hear in the forums and some guilds are disbanding or leaving guildwars after the 6vs6 happens.

So why change?

Now about the inscriptions salvage. After Nightfall economy and high end selling will end. Which means many people are already thinking or leaving guildwars because there will be nothing else to do for them.

So why change ?

Nightfall will atract new players but will repel old players ... Guildwars is already a fantastic game as it is, Factions didnt bring any changes so why are they doing it now?

How many people are complaining about the HA system and the prices of certain items to make this happen?

What does everyone think about this?

If you're against this changes or agree with them, Sign here.

It's a change for the best I say. If you're gonna leave because you can't buy/sell things for 100k+100e anymore, then you should really look at yourself. The game is about combat, strategy and teamplay. Making changes to keep this as first priority is always good. People will leave every update and people will join every update, you can't please everyone.

It's not out yet, so we don't know for sure how it will impact the game. I'm still going to be buying the game. Those who are unsure whether this game is for them could wait for what others think or read reviews of it.

To leave GW because Heroes' Ascent is a 6v6 is kind of dumb. That isn't the only type of pvp you enjoy, right? I would have thought that dynamic changes brings new ideas and creative builds to the table, making HA less stale than it is right now. I myself am not sure whether I like the changes or not, but that's because I am not sure how fast I could adapt to it. Imo, this gives new players to pvp an extra foot in a head start. Everyone will be back to learning new types of changes to maps with a change in party size.

Change happens and most of the time, it's a good thing. It's called evolution.

I see the selectable upgrade salvage and the mod salvage as positive and in keeping with GW's "no grind" policy. So people are going to quit because they can't amass a million bucks as easy? Whatever. I play for fun and don't see buying/selling as fun.

I'm hoping for salvagable and upgradable shields in the future as well.

Amen to changeing upgrades on Sheilds. I am in favor of this new salvage idea, and 6 vs 6, Most of the people out there are. I only know of one person in my alliance who isnt likeing the idea, They are one of the power sellers themselfs.

The majority of the PvP community has wanted an overhaul of HA for quite awhile. 6v6 is also widely welcomed changed to that same population. Linked with map changes, and you've breathed new life into a stagnant area of the game.

The cost of making PvP ready characters will be dramatically reduced by this change, and the casual player will finally be able to afford things they desire. Honestly, I can't say I'll miss people who only ever solo farmed things anyway.

These changes only repel a certain %age of "hardcore" PvE individuals, but it makes the playing experience more enjoyable to a greater %age of people who play casually.

GW was never planned to be a grind-happy RPG, and people need to start accepting that.

GuildWars life depends on selling new chapters. It doesn't matter if it's current players or new players.

Say they have 50% of the current players move one as long as Old + New = Sales targets Anet's good.

Not only that as Darksun pointed out, when every there is a major change we get flooded with OMG I HATE YOU ANET I QUIT and the truth is maybe 1/2-1/4 of the people complaining *may* quit.

The only way I can see GW coming to end if they announce monthly fee's or completely botched chapter (factions has some issues but it is was a success) or a series of medicore chapters that impact sales.

I for one love the inscription idea and still playing (Since Oringal Beta Events)

PvE players wont leave. A lot of HA players will leave, but some will stay. I can't really understand why A-net made this change before NF come out.

I can honestly say I am probably more excited about the game after the Nightfall pve event and the announced HA change than I have been since the very first WPE I played 2 and a half some odd years ago.

Nightfall looks to rival even Prophecies for a quality pve experience, the addition of heroes is awesome, and I can finally play in a pvp arena that I used to really love to play at again, before it became more of a job than a fun competitive "tournament."

Just a quick comment: If everyone who was a "hardcore" HA player or in a "hardcore" HA guild left... that'd be what? maybe a few hundred people at most? GW is always going to introduce changes that some people hate and some people love. They have to do what they think will accommodate and be good for the majority of players. This change is and does just that.

I like both new changes, hopefully less elitism in HA, for a while at least.

Salvage options? Good, if it brings new options for PvPers too, it'll be awesome.

One thing i dislike about GWN, is the way they added more skills to the paragon. Absolutely terrible.

/not signed.

To the people who claim they are going to quit:

You got a small preview of HA, during a double fame weekend that did of course bring everyone and their dogs out to play. Of course you would see an over abundance of FOTM builds. You did not however get to play 6 vs 6 with nightfall skills, gameplay will be different at that point.

To those who are going to quit due to salvage options - Nobody knows what these will be like, it was not available in the preview.

Try them out before you quit, if you don't like how it is a few weeks after they are live, then and ONLY then will threads like this be justified.

Sigh.

I sometimes feel like Guild Wars is infected by people carrying signs that say "Repent! The End of the World is Near!" It's an old cliche, but it certainly seems to be an accurate portrayal of people who constantly see gloom and doom in everything.

I doubt *very much* that 6v6 HA will bring the game crashign down, or that thousands of people will stomp away in a huff. A few hundred people will take offense and quit; I say "good riddance" to such norrow-minded folk.

And if people are only playing so they can stand around in Kaineng all day shouting "WTS" -- well, I just don't know what to think. I hope they have a happy life in some other game.

The bottom line is that Guild Wars will go on, and likely grow in popularity.

And the doomsayers will continue to protest...

I don't get attached to anything in this game anymore. There's absolutely no statute of limitations on what can and cannot be changed. The value of nearly every "physical" element of the gameplay has changed. I mean materials and armors, weapons, weapon mods, runes, maybe even emotes dependant on how you view the 6v6 HA change.

I think the only thing that ANet can't take away or replace is the quality of tactically organized competitive PvP, and that's something that we've made for ourselves (in the sense that the gameplay is more defined by the quality of the people that you're playing with). The way that PvP works in ANY capacity is subject to change. I don't rule out the possibility that GvG could be changed in some drastic and controversial way.

I for one, hate most changes. Unfortunately the only thing worse than the changes more often that not is thier implimentation. I think overall, ANet's doing a good job, really. I have faith that alot of my dissapointments in some of the changes they've made to the game were in some way necessary. I get by simply by expecting the worst case scenario in every situation. Maybe you should too.

Change is often scary but it also usually brings positive things with it. I am looking forward to the next chapter and to all the changes.

I would also love to see us being able to change the inherents on shields in the future.
